We are excited to share two things about our national affiliate: 1) the National Middle School Association has changed its name to Association for Middle Level Education, and 2) the AMLE has recently released the free study guide for This We Believe.
This We Believe is an excellent resource. The book was recently updated and provides the beliefs and practices that underpin excellence in middle level education. The addition of a free study guide available on the AMLE website brings the book to life for teams and schools. We recommend you use the book and study guide as the basis for a study group at your middle level school. We invite you to visit the website to order the book and access the free study guide.

Your Board of Trustees and the staff at the Association for Middle Level Education are pursuing numerous initiatives to continue to keep the importance of exemplary middle level education at the forefront of educational efforts.
You recently received two important messages from AMLE: 1) the ballot to elect a new president and members of the board of trustees, and 2) information about “Success in the Middle” bill. I hope you voted to ensure you have strong representation at the national level. I encourage you to follow up on the message related to the Success in the Middle bill by contacting your congressional representatives. Help us move legislators to act on positive political support for middle level education.
I hope you are making plans to attend your state or regional middle level association conference along with the AMLE annual conference. I’m hoping that numerous individuals from the north region will be presenting and participating in the conference in Louisville. Be sure to register for both state and national conferences early.
